The J. Clyde and The Nook named to DRAFT Magazine's list of 100 Best Beer Bars
DRAFT Magazine has released their list of America’s 100 Best Beer Bars: 2013, and we are elated to announce that The J. Clyde and The Nook have been chosen to represent the state of Alabama on this prestigious list!
We are incredibly humbled and appreciative of the recognition that DRAFT Magazine has given us by naming The J. Clyde to these lists over the years. Our pub’s name on this list not only gives us comfort in knowing that we have represented craft beer well in the city of Birmingham in the past/present, but it also pushes us to strive to be better in the future to ensure that we always provide our customers with the experience they deserve each and every time they visit us.
Here are the very kind words DRAFT had to say about our little pub:
“Beer’s getting a boost in ’Bama, and for five years, wood-decked pub J. Clyde has fought the good fight for craft. With brewmaster-led beer dinners, tap takeovers and more than 200 brews on offer, it remains a step ahead in this fledgling beer state.”
We know that none of what we do or the honors we receive would be possible without our amazing patrons, friends, staff members, and brewers. We cannot say thank you enough.
At this time we would also like to extend a big congratulations to folks over at The Nook in Huntsville. The Nook is constantly doing amazing things for their city’s craft beer culture, and that fact is explained in the wonderful quote Dan Perry of Straight to Ale provided for the magazine:
“The Nook was the first craft beer bar in the area. Connell Allen bought an old, run-down bar with the idea of making it a nice place to go (clean, nonsmoking, well-lit, great patio) to enjoy craft beer. Most of—if not all— the local breweries debut there, and they always have local beers on tap. Plus, there are weekly special beer releases, and [manager] Beverly is constantly trying to get in rare, special beers from craft breweries throughout the world.”
The Nook has truly been the epicenter for the craft beer explosion we have seen in Huntsville over the last few years, and they could not be more deserving of the recognition they receive. We are proud to represent our state alongside the great people at The Nook!
Finally, we would like to extend thanks to DRAFT Magazine for recognizing us, The Nook, and Alabama as a part of this list. We wholly believe our great state and breweries deserve to be a part of the national craft beer discussion, and articles like these help us spread that word in ways we never thought imaginable. Once again, thank you to all involved and here’s to another great year of craft beer!
