The Big 500 Matt & Scot Special, February 19

4 February 2015 No Comment

Big500Join us on Thursday, February 19th when we welcome Matt and Scot of JOX 94.5 FM to the pub to celebrate and enjoy their 5ooth show!

About two years ago, a couple guys from Texas ventured to SEC country to try their luck in the Birmingham sports radio game.  As if that statement needs clarification, this certainly was not an easy road for Matt & Scot.  Thanks to a different style of humor and an outsider’s perspective, it took a little while for our area’s passionate sports fans to embrace this new approach.  The Matt & Scot show was shuffled through a few time slot changes until it finally found its place following up the Paul Finebaum Show.  This time slot was expected to be the death blow for the show, but Matt & Scot finally began to build an audience and a rhythm as the first sports show in Birmingham to air after 6 p.m.  With the establishment of this newfound appreciation, Matt & Scot have done all they can to continue to grow their relationship with this fine city.  Whether through programs such as Eat, Drink & Be Local or by staying on air during the Winter Storm of 2014, they have gone above and beyond to reciprocate this appreciation by becoming a true part of the community.  These improbable underdogs have now persevered to reach their 500th show and, like any good underdog, they want to share this win with their city.

To celebrate this huge milestone for Matt and Scot, we are moving our upcoming installment of Eat, Drink & Be Local to Thursday, February 19th so that we can host the live broadcast of their 500th show.  While you hang out and enjoy the show, we will be serving up a special, one-night only brew from Back Forty Beer Co. The featured offering will be P-1 (a.k.a. Preset 1), an amped up, Double IPA take on their Freckle Belly IPA.  P-1 weighs in at 8.5% ABV and is dry hopped with Amarillo, Citra, Centennial and Chinook hops.  If you happen to be a lover of hops, you better believe that you want this limited brew!

To display our commitment to the community, 50% of our happy hour appetizer sales from Thursday, February 5th to  Thursday, February 19th will be donated to Make-A-Wish of Alabama.  While you enjoy those tasty apps each day, you can keep it local by enjoying our normal happy hour special of half-off Birmingham brewed draught beers.  This is truly going to be a great event that shares local success with an amazing cause!

We hope that you all can make it out on February 19th and help us pack the pub to celebrate this moment with Matt & Scot, drink some great beer, and raise a lot of money for Make-A-Wish of Alabama!  We’ll see you all then!
