Heavy Seas Tap Event, March 5
Join us on Thursday, March 5th at 6 p.m. for a special tap event featuring some delicious treats from Heavy Seas Beer!
Our good friends at Heavy Seas always seem to go all out when we plan an event together, but it appears that we are taking things to another level for our tap event on Thursday. To help you get your weekend started a day early, they are sending us a stellar lineup of beers that simply do not turn up on the same tap wall every day. Here’s the rundown on four of the confirmed offerings to give you an idea of what we are talking about:
- 2011 Vintage Below Decks Barleywine (Cask!) – An English style barleywine ale that can be enjoyed now or kept “Below Decks” as it becomes more complex as it ages. ABV – 10%
- Deep Six – Rich, malty, and complex with a surprisingly dry finish, this robust English-style porter is never cloying and wonderfully drinkable. A dense tan head portends the chocolate, roasty, brownie batter flavor. Marris otter barley imported from the UK imparts a deep nuttiness accentuated by the unique english yeast strain. The cheeky yeast generates subtle pear, apple and strawberry esters that gently contribute to the depth of flavor. The complex balance comes from imported UK target and fuggle hops, contributing earthy, herbaceous, tea-like notes. The result is a hefty brew that walks the fine line between eminent drinkability and overwhelming flavor impact. ABV – 6.8%
- Plank III – In 2011, we began the PLANK project. Our goal was to influence the flavor profile of beer using woods that have rarely, if ever, been used in aging beer before. Plank III is a Belgian Triple aged on Jamaican Allspice wood and the newest edition in our “Uncharted Waters” series! ABV – 8.5%
- Siren Noire – Our Siren Noire isn’t your father’s chocolate stout. We’ve used almost 3 pounds of Belgian coco nibs per barrel. We’ve aged it for five weeks in bourbon barrels with vanilla beans added. A mix of dark malts gives Siren Noire a well-rounded body that is decidedly chocolatey—but without being extraordinarily sweet. Brewers Gold hops contribute an earthy spiciness, with notes of black current. ABV – 9.5%
For your convenience and drinking pleasure, we will be serving up flights of the four beers above for just $10! While you are enjoying these tasty brews, the guys from AlaBev will be here to talk with you about the brewery and the beer in your glass. If you haven’t had the pleasure, believe us when we say that nothing but good times can come from raising a glass or two with these guys.
We have a hell of a night planned with some awesome Heavy Seas beers, so make sure to get your friends together and swing by the pub on Thursday! We cannot wait to see you all then!
