College Football Saturdays at The J. Clyde

5 September 2012 No Comment

You may not think of The J. Clyde as the destination for college football, but we know that very few things pair better with the game then your favorite beer and delicious food.  Well, it just so happens that we have both of those, televisions that will be tuned to the best games in the nation, and awesome food and drink specials that will start every Saturday at 11 a.m.  That’s right, we will be open early every Saturday this season for your convenience.

Every Saturday between the hours 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., we will be featuring the perfect game day snack food, Duck Fat Popcorn ($6).  Each order will be freshly prepared on the stovetop, popped in duck fat, and topped with Asiago cheese and apple wood smoked bacon crumbles.  In addition to the popcorn, we will also have a different “Touchdown Special” inspired by a game from each week.  This Saturday’s special (September 8th) will be themed after the Auburn Tigers vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs match-up and called The Junkyard Dog.  This dish will be two hot dogs dressed with housemade remoulade, fresh guacamole and “tobacco” onions (floured yellow onions, seasoned with paprika and cayenne pepper, then fried to look like strip of tobacco).  A vegetarian version of this dish will also be available.  Every seventh order of The Junkyard Dog to come out of our kitchen, just like every week’s Touchdown Special, will be free of charge.   The Touchdown Special will also only be a menu option on Saturdays between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Keep an eye on our website, Facebook and Twitter accounts for updates on each week’s special.

In addition to the awesome food specials, you know we will be taking care of you in the beer department as well.  Each Saturday, all Alabama brewed beers will be half price whenever games featuring Auburn University, University of Alabama, or University of Alabama at Birmingham are televised.  It does not matter what time they are playing. As long as it is Saturday and those teams are on screen, you get to enjoy some of the best beers made in our state for half the cost.

So, if you are looking for your new favorite spot during college football season, all you have to do is pull up a chair at the pub.  We will pop the popcorn and make sure your beer glass is well tended to each and every Saturday this fall.
