HISTORY from Rogue.com
Behind great beer there is a brewer, and behind great beef there is a bull. Fukutsuru (Fuku to his friends) is that bull. Ranked the top marbling bull in the U.S., Fuku is a Japanese Wagyu bull whose offspring produce premium grade American Kobe Beef that is served with St. Rogue Red. Over 50,000 units of Fuku’s pride is in the freezer for future breeding. In his final days, Fuku was given the opportunity to “socialize” with some fine, young cows. Instead, he chose to take a nap. …

In advance of kegs of this very special brew arriving in Alabama, The J. Clyde received a cask conditioned version of this beer.  We will tap this wood-aged double IPA on Friday, 9 July by 5pm.  Get there early because it won’t last long.

“This copper-hued treat is a celebration of everything Great Divide does best. Plenty of malty sweetness provides a backdrop for earthy, floral English and American hops, while French and American oak round off the edges and provide a touch of vanilla. Thanks to everyone who’s supported us  …

Tapped by 5pm on Friday, 4th of June!
Yes, you read correctly!  One of my favorite styles of beer is on tap Alabama Beer Week Eve!  One of the top breweries in the world, Great Divide always makes great beer.  Always!
Belgica – The Roman name for the Low Countries – is a marriage of the best in American and Belgian brewing traditions. Belgian pilsner malt, a generous amount of American and European hops and a unique Belgian yeast strain combine to give Belgica big notes of citrus and spice, creating a …

This beer has won more medals than Michael Phelps!
“If One is Good, Then Two is Better!  Our Moylander Double IPA is fat and resiny, with aggressive and excessive hops swinging on an enormous malt backbone like naughty monkeys on a vine.  Double malt, double hops – do the math, it’s academic.  This brew has twice the things you’re looking for, and it’s big enough to share with the one you love.  And isn’t that what it’s all about?”
This special firkin is dry-hopped with California Organic Ivanhoe.  Add that to its standard …

For the “Mother of All Beer Weeks“, we’ll tap a cask on Thursday, 20 May - as part of a very special Terrapin showcase and another on Friday, 21 May with our local brewery – Good People Brewing Company!
As usual casks are tapped by 5pm.

~
Terrapin’s firkin is cask-conditioned Hopsecutioner aged with Woodford Reserve oak chips.  I haven’t tried this combination before, but I know folks who have.   “Totally awesome” is what I’ve been told.
~
Good People cooked up a “funky” Brown Ale innoculated with cultured Orval and Rodenbach yeast.  I have affectionately dubbed this beer …

Left Hand Brewing Company’s Jackman’s Pale Ale is this week’s cask-conditioned ale.    This beer took home a Gold Medal from the annual Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival in Stockholm, Sweden.  The gold medal, awarded in the Ale 4.8% to 5.9% alcohol by volume category, was the first for Left Hand at the festival, which became one of the most important events on the European beer circuit.

Draft Magazine describes this Colorado beer as an American-style Pale Ale “which pours with a golden-orange hue and a fluffy, playful white head.  The aroma bursts with …

This week’s cask-conditioned ale is a wonderful stout from Kalamazoo, Michigan-based Bell’s Brewery.  Tapped by 5pm today, Friday, April 30th.

Full-bodied and roasty, this beer is brewed with brewers licorice.  Brewers add licorice to increase head retention and thickness, but it also provides the beer with an interesting after-taste.  Licorice has a medicinal quality that helps open nasal passages, which excites the palate even more.  So, all the wonderful roasty character in this beer becomes that much more prominent.
This is another great beer from a great brewery!
Cheers!

A special version of Kilt Lifter prepared for fans of The J. Clyde is on cask this week.   From Moylan’s website:
“Robust and Strapping , Our Scotch Ale takes BIG Beers to a whole new level.  Rich malt balances perfectly with delicate hops to provide a concentrated and intense flavor; an ideal companion for hearty foods, or as a meal unto itsself.  Allow this ale to warm slightly in your glass to enhance its truly bold character .  Sharing is encouraged, as this is one beer that lives up to its …

Lager style casks are very interesting.  Couple of reasons I suppose:  bottom fermenting yeasts and continuing cask fermentation temperature of 50-55 degrees Farenheit.  It’s possible there are phenomena occuring similar to what happens with steam or California common beer.  You get a beer with characteristics of both lager and ale.  Anyway, Easter is a great time for bockbier so I thought this was the time to break out this cask.

“Pale malt flavors are balanced with a rich hop character and a light fruit bouquet in this seasonal spring lager. Traditional …
