Break'n Bread returns October 14

26 September 2012 No Comment

Join us at Railroad Park on Sunday, October 14 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. as we participate in the 2012 installment of Break’n Bread!

Break’n Bread, an annual event put on by Birmingham Originals, is an afternoon of food tasting from some of the greatest restaurants in Birmingham.  Representatives from over 40 restaurants will be on hand to serve their signature dishes and also discuss with you the inspiration behind their cuisine and restaurants.  In addition to the amazing food, a wide array of beer and wine will be available to pair with each dish being served.  Musical entertainment will be provided throughout the event by the popular local band Bonus Round and also the Alabama School of Fine Arts Orchestra.  This is a family friendly event that will feature a designated kid’s area with activities by the Birmingham Zoo, kids cooking demos, pumpkin decorating, a writing workshop from The Desert Island Supply Company (DISCO) and more.  This is fun for the whole family that will allow you to enjoy the foods you already love from your favorite Birmingham dining spots and it may also introduce you to a few restaurants you have not been able to visit yet. If you are interested in attending, you can arrange tickets by clicking here (just scroll down on the page).  A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Make-a-Wish Foundation and United Way’s Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities.

We at The J. Clyde are excited to announce that will be using this event to introduce our friends and patrons to our new chef, Charles Nichols.  We are very confident that Chef Nichols will elevate our dining menus to the level we have always wanted to achieve and that you deserve as our patrons.  To get a glimpse of his talent, he will be preparing the following delicious dishes that will be available for sampling at Break’n Bread:

  • Almond Tuile and Fatso Pudding:  Chef Nichols puts his twist on our house favorite chocolate pudding infused with Imperial Stout and serves it in a crisp, almond cookie cup.
  • Chilled Coconut and Butternut Squash Bisque: smooth, creamy coconut and butternut squash soup flavored with lemongrass and topped with toasted pumpkin seeds.

This truly is one of our favorite events that we look forward to each year, and it is no wonder why it is considered on the greatest food events in the state of Alabama.  If you are free, we hope you make it down to Break’n Bread to get further acquainted with these fantastic Birmingham restaurants, meet our new chef, and just hang out to enjoy some guaranteed good times with us!  See you all there!
