Birmingham Beer Dinner October 28

Join us at the pub on Sunday, October 28th at 5 p.m. when we host all four Birmingham breweries for a night of fantastic, local beer and food at our Birmingham Beer Dinner!

When we reflect on what the craft beer scene in our great city looked like just five years ago and then take a step back to look at it now, it is truly amazing to see how much has changed in that short period of time.  We have seen the ABV limit get raised and bigger bottles get legalized, but the most exciting addition is the fact that we now have four, awesome breweries in Birmingham.  We started with Good People Brewing Company paving the way in 2007, then Avondale Brewing Company came along to help revive a historic part of town with their tasty brews, and recently we had the two newcomers of Beer Engineers and Cahaba Brewing Company enter the mix earlier this year.  Quality, awe inspiring brew is now the norm when it comes to beer being produced in Birmingham, and we think it is high time that we celebrate that achievement with one hell of a beer dinner.

We wanted this to be an event that no one soon forgets, so our new chef Charles Nichols has prepared a delicious four course menu beginning with a reception aperitif that truly takes this beer dinner beyond anything we have done before.  Each brewery has provided us with tasty offerings, some rare and limited, and they have been properly paired with each course (full menu and pairings below).  While you enjoy your meal, brewery representatives will be in attendance to discuss with you the beer in your hand and hopefully a few stories about their breweries.  It will be a top notch evening of dinner and drinks that also allows you meet and get to know the folks behind your favorite local beers.

Cost of the dinner is $43.00 per person before tax and gratuity.  This beer dinner will be by reservation only and you can arrange yours by calling 205.939.1312, emailing us at info@jclyde.com, or by simply letting your server or bartender know the next time you are at the pub.  Seating will be limited, so make those reservations soon.

Shrimp, scallop, cilantro and cucumber tossed in fresh lime juice

paired with Velocity IPA by Beer Engineers

 

First Course

Bresse Mushroom Soup

Earthy mushroom soup garnished with cream and fresh thyme 

paired with Cahaba Brewing Company’s Oktoberfest

 

Second Course

Sea Scallops

Pan seared sea scallops over turnip greens wilted in Cahaba Brewing Oka Uba IPA vinegar

paired with Bearded Lady from Good People Brewing Company

 

Third Course

Lamb Loin

Grilled lamb loin with potato gratin, haricot vert and served with a bordelaise sauce

paired with Avondale Brewing Company’s Scottish Ale

 

Dessert Course

Chocolate Porter Cake

A decadent cake made with Avondale’s Vanillaphant Porter, served with vanilla bean ice cream

paired with El Gordo by Good People Brewing Company
