Ballast Point Sculpin IPA Release on September 5th
Do you like India Pale Ales? Do you like world class, award winning IPAs from the West Coast? If you are nodding your head in agreement then you will probably want to be at the pub on Wednesday, September 5 for the release of Ballast Point Brewing’s Sculpin India Pale Ale.
Ballast Point started out as a couple of homebrewers attempting to live their motto, “Real beer lovers making real good beer”. When trying to get their brand off the ground, they decided to name their brews after fish in order to fuse their loves of brewing and fishing. The fish remain on the labels today as a reminder to themselves and everyone that you should always do what you love. What started as a small brewing operation in the back of a homebrew store is now a brewery that is distributed around the country. They have developed a reputation of being a top U.S. craft brewery that makes award-winning and highly respected beers. If we were not lucky enough already, Ballast Point has now decided to expand distribution into the great state of Alabama and we will be celebrating their arrival at the pub.
The beer that Ballast Point will bring us first is their wildly popular Sculpin India Pale Ale. The Sculpin fish is known for having poisonous spikes that pack a strong sting, but the meat is considered to be some of the most delicious out there. Ballast Point believes they nailed the naming of this beer since it packs plenty of sting from the hops and tastes great. Here is how the brewery describes Sculpin:
“The Sculpin is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. It showcases bright flavors and aromas of apricot, peach, mango & lemon. The lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops.”
To celebrate the release of Sculpin in Birmingham, we will be serving it on draught Wednesday, September 5th. We are not stopping there though. In addition to the regular draft line of Sculpin, we will be running another line through the Randall (hop/flavor infuser) full of lovely, sticky Simcoe hops. This will ensure we are able to satisfy the taste buds of both the recreational IPA drinkers and those of the most ardent hop heads out there.
So, come down to the pub on September 5th and join us in raising a glass of Sculpin in celebration of yet another world-class brewery finding its way to Alabama!
