Annual Burns Nicht Dinner, January 25

17 December 2014 No Comment

Scottish Poet Robert Burns. No churchman am I for to rail and to write,
No Statesman nor Soldier to plot or to fight,
No sly Man of business contriving a snare,
For a big-belly’d bottle’s the whole of my care.

From No Churchman am I by Robert Burns

Join us on Sunday, January 25th at 5 p.m. when we host our annual Burns Nicht Dinner to celebrate the life and work of famed poet Robert Burns with Scottish fare and fine drink!

Robert Burns is probably best known for writing the popular New Year’s anthem Auld Lang Syne, but his acclaim reaches much further than that. Burns was a poet and lyricist whose countless works are credited as being a catalyst for the Romantic Period in literature during the 18th century. In his work, Burns wrote of and celebrated all things love, friendship, work and drink. His literary voice inspired movements in literature, society and politics. His influence is so long standing that not only is he still referred to as the Bard of Scotland, but he was also voted the “Greatest Scot” by the Scottish public in 2009.

To honor this most worthy of men, we have planned an extravagant evening full of Scottish-inspired cuisine, the finest of drink, and great entertainment.  The backbone of this event will be an amazing four course meal featuring Scottish fare prepared by our very own Chef Charles Nichols.  Each course will be paired with either Scotch whisky or stellar craft beer offerings to properly complement and accentuate each bite (menu available below).  As an added bonus, this event will also feature poetry readings to set the mood and familiarize you with the work of Robert Burns.  We will even have Ryan Morrison, the Birmingham Bagpiper, in attendance to provide some musical entertainment.  This is guaranteed to be a truly immersive Scottish experience.

Tickets for this event are currently available for $75 each and that covers the provided food, drink and entertainment.  You can purchase your tickets online by clicking here.

This is an event that we look forward to each and every year, and we could not be more excited to share this experience with you.  Get your tickets today and we will see you on January 25th to celebrate one of the world’s greatest poets at this amazing dinner!  Slainte!
