Anniversary Day 8 – April 13: Founders KBS Vertical

11 April 2015 No Comment

KBS_on_barrel-749x1000We are wrapping up our 8 Days for 8 Years Anniversary Celebration on the highest of notes by pouring up a four year vertical of KBS – Kentucky Breakfast Stout from Founders Brewing Company on Monday, April 13 at 2:13 p.m.!

April 13 is a date that we hold quite dear here at The J. Clyde.  Not only was it our official Grand Opening date eight years ago, but it more importantly marks the birthday of our namesake Jason Clyde.  Only the best will do for such an important date, so we are making Monday a day to truly remember by breaking out a four year vertical of the incredibly rare KBS from Founders Brewing! Yes, you read that correctly.  2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 vintages of KBS will all be available here in a limited, one-time-only flight!  If you are somehow unfamiliar with this highly sought-after, barrel-aged offering, here’s the full description from the brewery’s website:

What we’ve got here is an imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year to make sure wonderful bourbon undertones come through in the finish. Makes your taste buds squeal with delight.  ABV – 11.2%  IBUs – 70

As an added bonus, we will also be featuring some local flavor by putting Fairhope Brewing Company’s Merry Widows Russian Imperial Stout through a Randall of Yellow Birch Wood!  The Yellow Birch should add notes of toffee, butterscotch, and a light amount of tropical fruits to this already delicious brew.  When all is said and done, this should make for an awesome offering to enjoy alongside your KBS vertical!

Fair Warning: the flights of KBS will start to pour at 2:13 p.m. SHARP on Monday.  We only have a case of each vintage, so get here early to make sure that you do not miss out on this rare opportunity!  Monday cannot get here soon enough, and we cannot wait to raise a glass with you to Jason, The J. Clyde and our amazing craft beer culture here in Birmingham!  See you all then!
