8 Days for 8 Years Anniversary Celebration, April 6 – 13

1 April 2015 No Comment

eightJoin us at the pub April 6th – 13th for our 8 Days for 8 Years Anniversary Celebration, a solid week filled with amazing events and exceptional craft beers!

It is crazy to think that eight years have gone by since we first opened our doors.  Our craft beer community in Birmingham has come so far in so short a time, and we are incredibly proud to be a part of a developing culture here in Alabama that wholeheartedly embraces craft beer on the local, national and international levels.  We know that none of this would have been possible without your undying curiosity of and dedication to the craft, and that’s why our 8th Anniversary Celebration is as much for you as it is for us.

Below you will find details for the 8 days of events that will feature only the best craft beer offerings pouring at the bar and some truly delicious, oyster-themed food specials (with a break for some bacon desserts on Wednesday!) coming out of our kitchen.  We created these cannot-miss events to have a little bit of something for everyone, so let’s get together April 6th – 13th to celebrate eight years of craft beer at the Clyde!  We’ll see you all then!

Monday, April 6th – Reinventing a Local Favorite

Whether it was by expanding, moving or adding bars, or going from humble pub grub to an amazing seasonal menu; The J. Clyde has embraced change throughout the last eight years to provide you all with the best craft beer experience possible.  One constant around here has been our dedication to our local breweries because we are firm believers that some of the best beers we tap at the pub are made right here in the great state of Alabama.  To celebrate this fact and reintroduce you to their brilliance, we are taking the following Alabama-brewed beers and having a little fun with them for this event:

Monday Food Special: Fried Oysters, Grits, Scallions & Bacon

Tuesday, April 7th – Starr Hill Brewery Launch Party

We have had the extreme pleasure of hosting countless launch parties over the years, and it is only fitting that we get the opportunity to introduce our patrons to another fantastic brewery during our Anniversary Celebration! Please help us welcome Starr Hill Brewery of Charlottesville, Virginia to Birmingham at this official Alabama Launch Party! This event will feature a Meet & Greet with the Starr Hill team, four great beers for you to try on draft, and schwag giveaways!  Click here for all the details!

Tuesday Food Special: Crawfish & Oyster Perloo

Wednesday, April 8th – Bacon & Brews

On this indulgent evening, we will take a break from the oyster-themed specials to sweeten things up a bit with a special bacon-themed dessert created by Chef Charles Nichols.  Enjoy some delicious Bacon Brownie Balls paired with the following flight of rare beers from Alabama brewers:

Wednesday Food Special: Bacon Brownie Balls

Thursday, April 9th – Special Tapping: Batch 9000 from Bell’s Brewery

Bell’s Brewery has been absent from The J. Clyde since 2013, but we are welcoming them back for one last, incredibly special keg – Batch 9000 Ale that we have been aging in-house for FIVE LONG YEARS!  This hard-to-find beauty will be tapped on April 9th at 2:13 p.m. SHARP, and be warned that it will go quickly.  We don’t want to be a bad influence, but you will definitely want to skip out early from work for this one.  Follow our Facebook and Twitter accounts on the day of the event to track when this keg kicks.  Come get it while you can because this may be the last time you’ll find a Bell’s beer at The J. Clyde.

Thursday Food Special: Oysters Bienville

Friday, April 10th – Straight to Ale Goes Vintage

It is common knowledge that our friends at Straight to Ale can make some big ol’ beers and make them well.  We started stashing away some of their kegs for aging a few years back, and we cannot think of a better occasion to break out these vintage beers than our Anniversary Celebration!  The following four brews will be available in a flight for the ridiculously low price of $8:

  • 2013 Bourbon Barrel-aged Double Oatmeal Stout (insanely rare)
  • 2014 Bourbon Barrel-aged Laika Russian Imperial Stout
  • 2014 Cabernet Barrel-aged Laika Russian Imperial Stout
  • 2014 Rum Barrel-aged International Space Saison

Friday Food Special: Oysters Rockefeller

Saturday, April 11th – A Night of Flights with Founders Brewing

Eight years ago, the idea of simply tapping a beer from Founders Brewing Company was nothing but a pipe dream.  Our state’s craft beer culture has come a long way since then, and we are elated to have Founders be a part of our 8th Anniversary Celebration.  We will be serving up the following flight of four Founders brews for just $8:

  • 2013 Curmudgeon Old Ale
  • 2013 Imperial Stout
  • 2014 Rubaeus Pure Raspberry Ale
  • 2015 Blushing Monk

Saturday Food Special: Oyster Po’ Boy

Sunday, April 12th – A Day of Rest

We are taking Sunday off to celebrate with friends and family, and rest up a little.  It will also give you the chance to find your second wind because we have this planned for Monday . . .

Monday, April 13th – The Ultimate J. Clyde Birthday Party with a Founders KBS Vertical

April 13th is a very special day for us here at the pub because it marks both the birthday for our namesake Jason Clyde and our true anniversary date.  We wanted to make this April 13th a day to remember, so we are celebrating our founding by pouring a four year vertical of KBS – Kentucky Breakfast Stout from Founders Brewing Company!  Yes, you read that correctly.  We are talking about 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 KBS all available in a special flight while these bottles last. KBS FLIGHTS START POURING AT 2:13 p.m. SHARP!

To add a little local flavor to the party, we will also be running Fairhope Brewing Company’s Merry Widows Russian Imperial Stout through the Randall with Yellow Birch wood!

Help us close out this week of celebration with a vertical that you’ll be able to brag about until The J. Clyde gives you another special beer memory!
