A Cask for the Purists!

3 September 2009 No Comment

From the Wikipedia:  According to the Merriam Webster’s Online Dictionary, the term dates from 1706 and is defined as “a person who adheres strictly and often excessively to a tradition”, especially “one preoccupied with the purity of a language beer style and its protection from the use of foreign compressed carbon dioxide or altered forms obscene amounts of hops.”

If you were to have a cask ale in England, it’s a good chance this is a style you would be served.  This Friday, The J. Clyde taps a firkin of Tommknocker Pick Axe Pale Ale.

“A classic American Pale Ale dominated by mildly hopped, sparkling flavors and pleasant aromas. Dry hops impart unique aromas and flavors that add to the complexity of this ale.  1997 & 2000 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal Winner!”

Cheers!
